The site occupies a singular topography, perched between a promontory and a defensive post overlooking the Hispano-Portuguese plateau, carved by the gorges of the Rio Erges. The project is set at the heart of former “furdas,” built from dry stone on a granite base sculpted by the elements. Now abandoned, this former pig-farming site comprises dozens of low stone walls forming enclosures with their miniature shelters covered in mortared stone slabs.  It creates a small landscape strongly shaped by human intervention and endowed with heritage and archaeological significance. Open to the elements, the location offers a panoramic view east towards Spain, including the Castelo de Peñafiel, and west towards Portugal.
