In addition to paying tribute to this important event that affects the world design, we believe that we have found a form of integrating science and technology with art in the new science and technology innovation sector of the Shanghai old industrial base, to express the industrial temperament and cultural tradition of the whole region after the renovation. On the one hand, the old industrial factory buildings still show the functionalist tradition derived from a hundred years ago and the aesthetic system of industrial components. On the other hand, we hope this industrial building renovation can transcend the “industrial style” aesthetic routine and convey an internal spirit of scientific and technological innovation. We “open the belly” in the No.102 building, continue the experience-based design principle of the facade, create staggered floor boxes of different elevations and volumes, and plan detachable office products of various sizes, including small single buildings, standard offices, spring-layer offices and commercial boxes.
