沧海桑田，现今蓬勃发展的南台湾科学园区，却曾是许多史前先民的土地。此博物馆是为了保留并展现在建造科学园区时意外发现的五千年珍贵历史文物而设。建筑设计以“下探，回溯”来紧扣时间与空间的关系，由今日穿梭时空至五千多年以前，同时增加知识的深度。

The South Taiwan Science Park, which is now booming, was once the land of many prehistoric ancestors. This museum is designed to preserve and display the precious historical relics of 5000 years discovered unexpectedly during the construction of the Science Park. The architectural design closely links the relationship between time and space by "looking down and looking back". It shuttles through time and space from today to more than 5000 years ago, while increasing the depth of knowledge.

本基地紧临高速铁路轨道，平均每几分钟即有一辆高铁列车会经过，过程中约3.5秒会与本基地比肩相邻。巧妙地运用乘客的高铁体验，透过动线的设计让访客先穿越方形的玻璃通道，在频繁经过的高铁车次中，让每个访客都能穿梭「现代」，眺望这趟最新、最快的交通技术和科技园区设施，仿佛正在见证未来。

The base is close to the high-speed railway track. On average, a high-speed railway train will pass by every few minutes, and it will be close to the base in about 3.5 seconds. By skillfully using the passenger's high-speed rail experience, visitors are allowed to pass through the square glass channel through the design of the moving line. In the frequent high-speed rail trains, each visitor can shuttle through "modern" and look at the latest and fastest transportation technology and the facilities of the science and technology park, as if witnessing the future.

行过观景高点再以逆时钟方向下探历史的旅程，又仿佛考古挖掘的过程，同一个地点曾经文明涨退交迭，藉由身体的移动与五感来亲身体会。

The journey of going through the vantage point and then exploring history in the counterclockwise direction is also like the process of archaeological excavation. The same place has experienced the rise and fall of civilization, and it is experienced by the movement of the body and the five senses.

建筑以两组不同几何向度组成：一轴线指向近正北，与古代埋葬的方位吻合，代表过去的秩序；另一轴线遵循现有都市街道纹理，与主要轴线交错19度，代表现有的秩序。

The building is composed of two groups of different geometric dimensions: one axis points to the north, which coincides with the orientation of ancient burial, representing the order of the past; The other axis follows the existing urban street texture and intersects the main axis by 19 degrees, representing the existing order.

这两种秩序贯穿整个博物馆，从建筑物平面一直到展示物件的摆设都如此，象征了考古的工作的精髓：藉由手边现有的秩序，来臆测并探索可能隐藏在过往时空的秩序，并且对过去另一时空的事物赋予错位的巧思及意义。

These two orders run through the whole museum, from the floor plan of the building to the display of objects, which symbolizes the essence of archaeological work: to guess and explore the order that may be hidden in the past time and space by the existing order at hand, and to give the wrong thinking and meaning to things in another time and space in the past.

建筑外墙以粗犷火山岩为主，夜里光线隐隐的渗透，对照粗糙的石材质感诉说神秘的诗意。

The exterior wall of the building is mainly composed of rough volcanic rocks, with the faint penetration of light at night, and expresses the mysterious poetry against the rough stone texture.
