City of “Protrusions”

Countless spaces and versatile components make up the experience of daily life in a freely growing city. People can make use of the opportunities offered in contemporary society without constraint, unleashing their imagination on these “protrusions” into the urban fabric—sites where the usual order of things is suspended, allowing for new and unique possibilities.Creative people can use these “protrusions” to make spaces that are no longer dedicated to a single purpose, but instead multifunctional, temporary spaces for activities. In that moment, a sense of life, and home, are created.

Smooth City

Most modern cities have gradually lost their local texture and “protrusions.” We have lost our ability to shape cities, and our lives have become regimented under efficient operating rules. The interaction between people and cities is no longer as diverse as it used to be: with the decrease of individual activities the transient sense of home created by individuals coming together has also disappeared.

Symbiotic Relationship

A symbiotic relationship is defined as one where two creatures live close together, with one gaining energy from the other, or both mutually benefiting.By bringing together individual life and urban space, we are developing a new urban furniture which meets people’s diverse requirements. We call this multi-functional furniture “Symbiotic Urban Furniture.”Through creating this furniture, we hope to open up private space into the public, and bring back a sense of home to urban public space.
