The Shanghai Planetarium is one of the three major museums of The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. It is a museum building for science popularization and education of astronomy. The whole construction scale is about 38,000 square meters, including a main building and two buildings of astronomical implementation equipment: magic Sun Tower and public observatory; Two supporting buildings: youth observation base and kitchen (dining room). The complex is a multi-storey building, with five monoliths scattered like stars across a 58,600-square-metre green belt.

项目位于上海临港地区，该区域为本项目提供了良好的基地环境，整个建筑坐落在环湖绿化带內，北侧为环湖北三路，西侧为临港大道，南侧不远处为天然河道。整个位置对于天文观测有先天的优势，同时距离地铁16号线地铁站不到一公里路程，方便客流的到达。与本项目同处临港地区的航海博物馆、极地海洋世界形成集群效应，提升了区域的影响力。

The project is located in Lingang district of Shanghai, which provides a good base environment for the project. The whole building is located in the green belt around the lake, with three Hubei Road in the north, Lingang Avenue in the west and a natural river not far from the south. The whole location has inherent advantages for astronomical observation, and it is less than one kilometer away from the subway station of Subway Line 16, which is convenient for passenger flow. The maritime Museum and polar Ocean World, located in lingang area with this project, form a cluster effect and enhance the influence of the region.

上海天文馆（上海科技馆分馆），位于上海市浦东新区临港新片区滴水湖畔，2016年11月8日开工建设，2021年7月17日正式开馆，是上海市政府投资兴建的集教育、研究、收藏、展示、交互功能为一体的科普基础设施，为世界规模最大的天文馆。

Shanghai Planetarium (Shanghai Science and Technology Museum branch), located on the Bank of Dishui Lake in Lingang New Area, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, started construction on November 8, 2016 and officially opened on July 17, 2021. It is a science popularization infrastructure integrating education, research, collection, exhibition and interactive functions invested and built by the Shanghai municipal government. It is the world's largest planetarium.

上海天文馆占地面积58603平方米，建筑面积37741平方米。全馆以“连接人和宇宙”为展示主题，设置“家园”“宇宙”“征程”三大主题展区、“中华问天”“好奇星球”“航向火星”三个特色展区及教育活动区。馆内藏有约70件陨石样本与超过120件/套文物藏品，配有四大专业级天文观测及天象演示设备，共计展品300余件。

The Shanghai planetarium covers an area of 58603 square meters and a construction area of 37741 square meters. The exhibition theme of the museum is "connecting people and the universe", with three theme exhibition areas of "home", "universe" and "journey", three characteristic exhibition areas of "China asks for heaven", "curious planet" and "heading for Mars" and educational activity areas. There are about 70 meteorite samples and more than 120 cultural relics in the museum, equipped with four professional astronomical observation and astronomical demonstration equipment, with a total of more than 300 exhibits.

2019年，上海天文馆展示工程总承包及系列展品展项获得中国政府采购奖——精品项目奖。

In 2019, the general contracting of Shanghai planetarium exhibition project and a series of exhibits won the China government procurement Award - Boutique project award.
