历史与现状 | THE PAST ANDTHE PRESENT
西红门，因原为明清皇家苑囿南苑西门而得名，西红门镇地理位置优越，是京南地区的重要交通枢纽，享有“京南明珠”的美誉。西红门创业大街，位于西红门镇的核心地带，是西红门地区的中心大道，西起荟聚中心，东至西红门镇镇政府，全长近3公里。随着近年来的提升打造，文化、金融、电子商务等产业的入驻，西红门创业大街的商业氛围渐浓。
Xihongmen is named after the west gate of Nanyuan, an imperial garden in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Xihongmen Town possesses superb geographic location and acts as an important transportation hub in the southern region of Beijing, enjoying a reputation of “Pearl in the South Beijing “. Xihongmen Venture Street, the central avenue of Xihongmen area, is located in the heart of Xihongmen Town. It starts from Huiju Center in the west and ends at Xihongmen Town Government in the east, with a total length of nearly 3 kilometers. With the upgrading construction in recent years and the entry of companies in culture, finance, e-commerce and other industries, the commercial atmosphere of this street becomes stronger day by day.

然而，这不仅是交通要道、创业中心，也是西红门镇的活力动脉、当地居民的生活记忆承载体。当单一的商业发展无法满足居民对宜居地区的追求和对美好生活的多样化需求，打造“以人为本、服务大众”的城市共享空间便成为了顺应时代发展的必然选择。
“身居闹市外，一步到京城”，虽居都城，亦与繁华喧嚣保持着舒适的距离，是生活的选择，亦是生活的智慧。
However, it is not only a highway and a venture center, but also a vital artery of Xihongmen Town carrying life memory for local residents. When single commercial development cannot meet residents’ pursuit of a livable place and their diverse needs for a better life, creating a “people-oriented urban shared space to serve the public” becomes an inevitable choice to adapt to the development of the times.
“Stay outside the hustle and bustle, but have easy access to the city center”. It means although live in the capital, residents can still maintain a comfortable distance from the noisy environment, which is the choice of life, as well as the wisdom of life.

舒适的慢行环境 | SLOW WALK
西红门地区历经时代发展，在城市快速建设的大背景下，逐渐形成当前以居住为主的西红门街道社区，住宅大多沿街，居住小区间以道路分隔，街道空间简洁，结构较为单一，加之公共空间缺失、街道家具不足，使得西红门地区的街道空间环境严重缺少活力。
The Xihongmen area has gone through the development of this era. Under the background of rapid urban construction, current Xihongmen Street Community, which is mainly residential, is gradually formed. Most residences are along the street, and the residential areas are separated by roads. Simple street space and structure, the lack of public space and insufficient street furniture, all lead to the street space environment in Xihongmen area seriously short of vitality.

设计团队分别从道路工程、绿化景观提升工程、照明工程等方面对街道进行了更新提升。中央及两侧绿化帯增种银杏树，满足机动车的同时，银杏树的四季变化也为行人带来不同慢行体验。
The design team updated and upgraded the street from aspects of road engineering, greenery landscape improvement engineering, lighting engineering, etc. Extra ginkgo trees are planted on the green belts in the center and on both sides to meet the needs of vehicular traffic. At the same time, the seasonal changes of ginkgo trees can also bring pedestrians a unique slow-walking experience.

更换并增加了人行导视牌、庭院灯、座椅、花箱、树池边框等城市家具。为了打造多功能活力空间，设计团队对城市家具进行了模块化设计——利用可移动的模块化家具进行组合搭配，形成模块化休闲场地。城市家具的模块化组合不仅可以运用在当下的设计改造里，在未来其他待更新空间也可继续沿用，进行可持续性的提升。
Designers changed and added to urban furniture such as wayfinding signs, garden lamps, seats, flower boxes and tree grates. In order to create a multi-functional and dynamic space, the design team carried out a modular design for urban furniture – match movable modular furniture in groups to form modular leisure sub-sites. The modular combination of urban furniture can not only be used in the current design and renovation, but also in other spaces to be updated in the future for sustainable improvement.

一抹抹亮眼的橙色构成了完善的街道家具设施，同时点缀着城市中的绿意，让人们享受慢行，也享受在路边、在树下，与三两好友闲话家常的轻松时刻。
A touch of dazzling orange makes up complete street furniture, and at the same time embellishes the greenery in the city, allowing people to enjoy walking slowly, as well as the relaxing moments of chatting with friends and family by the roadside and under the trees.

以画载梦 | PAINTINGAND DREAM
如何把有限的预算资金合理有效地落实到街道空间中，从而达到最大效果是设计团队首先要面对的问题。因此，在对创业大街的提升改造思路上，设计团队从焦点入手，通过优化提升场地内的重要节点为原有线性街道创造活力。兴海学校的外围墙改造便是其中之一。
How to reasonably and effectively use the limited budget on street space, so as to achieve the maximal effect? This was the first problem that the design team must face. Therefore, in the upgrade and reconstructing of Venture Street, the design team started from the central point and brought vitality to the existed linear street by optimizing and upgrading important nodes in this site. One of the nodes is the renovation of the outer wall of Xinghai School.
每到上学的日子，总有来往的学生与家长行走在兴海学校围墙下，随着时间的流失，围墙已逐渐斑驳，人行道景观单一、缺乏生机，与校园内的活力截然不同。
On school days, there are always students and parents walking along the outer wall of Xinghai School. With the time passing by, the wall gradually becomes mottled, and the sidewalk landscape is monotonous and lacks vitality. It is completely different from the vigorous campus.

让这条上学的必经之路同朝气蓬勃的孩子们一样充满积极向上的气息，是设计团队重新修复这面墙的初衷。曾经乏味的街道墙体，用鲜艳的彩色涂料粉刷上积极的标语，成为了具有观赏性的街道画卷和孩子们的愉悦通道。同时，设计团队在街道旁新设了休闲座椅，为接送孩子的家长们提供了休息畅聊的场所。
The primary design intention was to restore this wall, making this only way to school as positive as the energetic children. The existed boring wall on the street is now painted with bright color and written positive slogans on it, turning it into an ornamental graffiti scroll and a delightful passage for children. Meanwhile, the design team set up leisure seats along the street, providing a place for parents to have a rest and chat when picking up their children.

新旧共生 | OLD AND NEW
场地原为音乐广场，因紧邻兴海学校，设计团队希望能为孩子们营造出一个“课后三十分钟”的娱乐空间，释放课业压力。原场地主要由大面积硬质铺装及象征着“琴键”的景观小品构成，场地内休闲设施少、活动内容少、场地利用率低下。
The site was originally a music square. It’s close to Xinghai School, so the design team hoped to create a “30 minutes after school” entertainment space for children to release the pressure of schoolwork. The existed site was mainly consisted of a large area of hard top and landscape installations that simply symbolize “keys of pipe organ”. Recreational facilities were quite few on the site, as well as the number of people who would like to use them.

设计保留了现有的橙色“琴键”，跟随“琴键”起伏，增设滑梯、攀岩墙等设施，打造出一个安全的趣味儿童乐园。夕阳下，金灿光辉映照出每一张笑脸，孩子们学得认真，玩得尽兴。来往行人，被冬日暖阳拉长了身影，走入这一隅活力，看着孩子们玩耍的笑颜，也不禁驻足。
The design keeps the existing orange “keys” and adds slides, climbing walls and other facilities according to the rolling “keys”, creating a children’s playground with safety and fun. Under the sunset, the golden light is shining upon each smiling face, representing that children study hard and have a great time. The shadows of passers-by are stretched by the warm winter sun. Walking into this vigorous corner, they couldn’t help but stop when seeing children’s smiling faces.

遮挡与连接 | HIDE AND CONNECTION
兴海家园居住楼间，原有的围墙打破了沿街底商的连续性和整体性。对此类的立面改造，设计采用“遮挡”与“连接”的思路，将围挡和互动性的小品结合在一起，赋予场地新的趣味性和功能，成为了公共步道的渗透空间，加强了与空间的互动交流。穿梭疲惫时，不妨短暂停留，融入街道，稍作休息。
In the residential building of Xinghai Home, the existed wall broke the continuity and integrity of shops along the street. For such façade reconstruction, the design adopts the idea of “hide” and “connection”, combining enclosures and interactive landscape installations to provide this site with new interests and functions. Thus, it’s turned out to be a permeable space for public footpath, strengthening people’s interaction with space. When a passer-byis tired, she or he might as well stop for a short time, to enjoy the street life and take a break.

此外，挡墙结合灯光照明设计，夜色渐浓，霓虹灯把街道装点得丰富多彩；晚晴风歇，走过，也走入了他人的风景。
Besides, the retaining wall is integrated with the lighting design. When the night is getting dark, the neon lights decorate the street in a colorful way. In such a clear night with no breeze, pedestrians are not just passers-by, but also become scenery in other’s eyes.

街角广场 | CORNER SQUARE
街角广场原为兴海家园外部的绿地空间，由于长期缺乏维护与管理，绿地早已成为闲置的土坡，不仅影响了居民居住环境质量，也影响了街道的整体景观风貌。一处街角的广场，一个室外运动的场所，色彩鲜明的主题LOGO置于入口处，与背后灰墙楼宇形成了色彩对比，提升了街角的可识别性和美观性。
The corner square was originally a green space outside the Xinghai Home. Due to the lack of maintenance and management in a long time, it has become a vacant earth slope, which affects not only the quality of residents’ living environment, but also the overall landscape of the street. A brightly colored theme LOGO is placed at the entrance of corner square—a place for outdoor sports. The color of the LOGO is in contrast to the buildings with gray walls behind it, enhancing the recognizability and aesthetics of the street corner.

《街道美学》中提到，易达性是街道作为公共空间的要素，设计团队将场地重新塑造为广场空间，增设休闲健身设施，容易被忽视的街角变身为街道景观，打破单调的街道空间的同时，让居民更便捷地享受健身的益处。
As mentioned in the book The Aesthetic Townscape, accessibility is an important element of the street as a public space. The design team rebuilt the site into a square space, adding leisure and fitness facilities, and transforming this easily overlooked street corner into streetscape. While breaking the monotonous street space, it also allows residents to enjoy the benefits of fitness more conveniently.

多元共享空间 | DIVERSIFIED SHARED SPACE
路演公园原为一片绿地，后被占用为室外停车场，西侧为商业区，东侧为清真寺，是很好的文化商业区域，但是与周边街区空间联系薄弱，场地使用率低，景观效果差，难以形成凝聚力。
Roadshow Park was originally a green space, later occupied as an outdoor parking lot. With a commercial area on the west and a mosque on the east, it should be a good cultural and commercial place. However, it’s difficult to form cohesion due to little spatial connection with nearby blocks, low utilization rate of the site and unsatisfactory landscaping visual effects.

设计团队将原址升级改造为路演公园，增加了篮球场地和娱乐足球场。宽阔的球场为街道带来四季不变的绿意，让孩子们即使在冬日也能享受运动的快乐。同时自由的空间也为开展商业活动、社区活动、娱乐表演等创造了条件。
The design team upgraded the existed site into a road show park, adding a basketball court and an entertainment football field. The spacious court brings greenery to the streets in all seasons, allowing children to enjoy the fun of sports even in winter. At the same time, this brand new free and spacious space also creates conditions for carrying out business activities, community activities, entertainment performances, etc.

路演公园入口和市政道路采用了无障碍连接的方式，在茶余饭后，随意走走，放慢生活的脚步，与家人共度美好的闲暇时光。孩子们自由无虑地放肆奔跑，不必担心被绊倒、被摔疼，平整柔软的草地安静拥抱成长的脚步。
The entrance of the Roadshow Park and the municipal road are connected accessibly. People can walk around freely at their leisure, slow down the life pace, and spend a good time with their family. The flat and soft grass ensures children can run freely and carelessly without worrying about being tripped or hurt.

空间的重塑 | SPACE REMODELING
兴海公园，是附近居民平日里跑步健身、赏花观景的另一个好去处，但是贴近道路的围挡使园内外的空间被生硬地划分开，对人行道产生了压迫感。设计团队将围挡向园内移动，重新塑造了公园与人行道的空间关系，将更多绿地还给街道。
Xinghai Park is another good place for nearby residents to run, do other sports, and enjoy beautiful flowers and scenery on weekdays. However, the enclosure close to the road makes the space inside and outside the park abruptly divided, creating a sense of oppression on the sidewalk. The design team moved the enclosure into park, reshaping the spatial relationship between the park and the sidewalk, and returning more green space to the street.

全民参与共建 | JOINT CONSTRUCTION
本次提升改造历时三年，期间设计师们根据社区居民的意见，对城市家具的排布进行了优化调整；与商业空间负责人进行协商，对路演广场的功能进行了完善；同清真寺方进行协调，优化寺外场地空间、合理安放了卫生间等公共设施，也保证了场地与清真寺整体协调的效果。提升改造并不是设计者的主观评判，更多的是要了解民意、采纳民意，充分考虑了多方的意见要求，最终将项目落实，实现对场地提升改造的“全民参与”。
The upgrade and renovation lasted three years. During this period, designers optimized and adjusted the layout of urban furniture according to community residents’ opinions. They also negotiated with the person in charge of the commercial space in this area to improve the function of road-show plaza. What’s more, designers coordinated with the local mosque, and optimized its space outside, reasonably arranged the placement of public facilities such as toilets, and ensured the overall coordination between the site and the mosque. The success of this project is not up to designer’s subjective judgment, but upon the understanding and adopting public opinion. By fully considering the opinions and requirements of various persons, the project is finally implemented to achieve the site goal of “participation by all people”.

设计师说 | DESIGNERS’ VIEW
西红门创业大街在五年内先后经历了两次改造，足以证明西红门镇人民对这条大街寄予了深深的期望。在对西红门创业大街的第二次提升改造中，我们放眼全局，对场地基础设施进行修缮整理，满足了人们对大街品质的需求；聚焦节点，对闲置场地进行针对性设计，加强了人们与街道的交流互动；展望未来，打造可移动模块化城市家具，保障了街道更新的可持续性；以人为本，尊重多方需求，实现了街道更新的“全民参与”。再次改造后的大街解决了原有空间利用率低等遗留问题，为大街创造了新的场地功能，满足了居民的多样化需求。
Xihongmen Venture Street has undergone two renovations within five years, which is enough to prove that people of Xihongmen Town place deep expectations on this street. In its second upgrade and reconstruction, we took the overall situation into consideration and repaired and reorganized the site infrastructure to meet people’s demand for street quality; we focused on designing the vacant site to create opportunities for residents to have more communication and interaction on the street; we looked forward to the future to build movable modular urban furniture, ensuring the sustainability of street renewal. The design of this project is people-oriented, respecting different needs of multiple parties, and inviting all people to participate in the street renewal. The renovated street solved the remaining problems of low utilization rate of the existed site, added new site functions to the street, and met the diverse needs of residents.
我们希望改造后的创业大街能如一条系带般，串联居民的多彩生活，承载居民的美好记忆，进一步拉近居民与大街的距离。
We hope that the renovated Venture Street can be a tie to connect the residents’ colorful life, carrying their beautiful memories, and further shortening the distance between residents and the street.
