We were approached by a client about modernizing their inherited 1973 house on Valderøy, Norway. While the house lacked historicalsignificance, we advised against demolition, emphasizing the importance of utilizing existing structures for climate goals. Rehabilitation alsopreserves local history and building practices and is often more economical. The solution proposed involved an extension and redesigned floorplan to enhance the family’s connection to nature and the sea view.

由于房屋坐西朝东，建筑师优先考虑营造一种安宁和稳定的感觉。三个浇筑混凝土构件将房屋遮挡起来，营造出安全舒适的环境。这样就可以开大窗户，包括面向Alnes灯塔和Godøy的主窗，而不会感觉过于暴露。内饰采用了高品质、经久耐用的材料：杨木镶板及松木。

Given the exposed west-facing location, we prioritized creating a sense of peace and stability. Three poured concrete elements shield the house, creating a safe and cozy environment. This allowed for large windows,including a main window facing Alnes lighthouse and Godøy, without feeling overly exposed. The interior features high-quality, long-lasting materials: aspen paneling, pine.
