This interior renovation project of a commercial space for a new 157 m² dental clinic with four treatment rooms takes as its starting point the irregular shape of the property and focuses on optimizing natural light in all areas, as well as creating an organic circulation flow that separates the public from the staff.

A pristine central box of translucent glass with solid oakwood mullions and rounded corners houses the four treatment rooms. The smooth, acid-etched glass surface allows natural light to permeate into all rooms while preserving patient privacy and providing acoustic insulation. The ceiling of each room, shaped like a flared funnel, culminates in an artificial skylight that heightens the sensation of being in direct contact with the outdoors, creating a calm and welcoming interior that maximizes patient comfort.

Around this central box lies a series of interconnected open spaces, including the clinic’s public and staff circulation areas, reception, waiting room, patient consultation office, and staff lounge. All these spaces enjoy direct natural light, filtered by natural linen curtains in areas requiring occasional privacy.

The entire clinic floor is finished with large-format 60×60 cm porcelain stoneware tiles set at a 45° angle. This locally manufactured ceramic pays tribute to the material culture of eastern Spain, while providing a continuous, durable, and aseptic surface, ideal for a dental clinic. The stoneware surface folds up to wrap the vertical walls along the clinic’s interior perimeter, serving as wall cladding in the aforementioned spaces, even forming the seating in the waiting area and covering all the service room doors. These retractable, stoneware-clad doors are only identified by discreet overhead fixtures marking their location.

The service rooms, conceived as part of the clinic’s poché, absorb the irregularities of the building’s shape, regularizing the interior and serving as an interface between the primary spaces, the street, and the adjoining buildings. These rooms include storage, machine room, bathrooms, changing rooms, X-ray room, and photography room. The clinic’s material palette is completed with a series of custom-designed natural oakwood furniture pieces that make up the reception and kitchenette.

The result is a dental clinic that combines serenity and efficiency—a space designed to reduce the usual anxiety associated with healthcare environments, offering patients a calm experience and staff optimal working conditions, reaffirming the value of architecture as a tool for well-being.
