During our first visit to the sloped site, defined by a generous plateau with views in two directions, one toward the hills and the other toward the interior of the community, it became clear that the residence should rest on the highest level. This approach avoids major topographic alterations and disperses the program across the landscape. From this reading, the site plan emerges as a direct response to the site’s physical and geographical conditions, including topography, solar orientation, prevailing winds, neighboring properties, and key views. A long, oblique volume accommodates the private wing, intersected by a perpendicular axis that houses the social and leisure areas, opening onto two gardens.

Conceived as a pavilion house, the structure is defined by a few essential elements. Two horizontal planes demarcate the façade: a planted slab slightly elevated from the ground, and a generous roof overhang with chamfered cantilevers. Between them, programmatic volumes and vertical brise-soleils rhythmically articulate the façades. The linearity of the architecture presents a quiet approach to the territory, one that, despite its scale, seeks a sense of dematerialization. Approaching the concept of promenade architecturale, the experience between the built and natural landscape unfolds through movement, gradually revealing a play of solids and voids, light and shadow, framed by vegetation.

From the moment of arrival, access to the main entrance follows a sinuous cobblestone path that leads to a generous 13.5-meter overhang, functioning as a porte-cochère. As a welcoming gesture, pivoting wooden doors reveal an internal garden, a point of convergence from which access is distributed to the diPerent wings: social, family private, and guest areas. A skylight of equal dimension cuts through the roof, flooding the space with natural light, while the slatted ceiling extends outward as a pergola.

With a fluid architectural language, bilateral ramps emphasize transitions while increasing ceiling height. Under the shade of the overhang, the living and dining rooms open to expansive views of the horizon, framed by large glass panels that, when opened, integrate seamlessly with the terraces sheltered beneath a 4.35-meter cantilever, dissolving the boundaries between inside and outside. Along the main axis, a monolithic volume clad in Tauari wood slats mediates the transition between the living areas and the gourmet terrace, acting as a spatial organizer. In the living room, it functions as a wine cellar, while on the opposite side it conceals the TV unit behind sliding panels. The living area features furniture by Brazilian designers, predominantly in wood, reinforcing the relaxed character of a country home. Dual glass façades maximize natural light and play a fundamental role in cross ventilation, ensuring constant air flow.

In the dining room, a grooved stone monolith, suspended slightly above the floor on slender pillars, forms a robust sideboard supporting family meals. Above the table, which seats 16 people, the Papir pendant lamp, designed as part of Jacobsen Arquitetura’s first collection of furniture and accessories, adds a sense of lightness to the space. The gourmet terrace, enclosed by glass panels, includes lounge areas, a dining table, and a cooking counter. Wooden panels seamlessly conceal access doors to the powder room and support pantry.

Inside, the presence of natural materials enhances comfort and well-being. White Siena granite appears on the floors and extends to the walls of the monolithic volumes that house service and entertainment areas, as well as the perimeter brise-soleils, while wood clads the entire ceiling. This continuous application, extending outward, reinforces the physical and visual connection between spaces. A volume positioned at the end of the overhang organizes wellness and leisure spaces, including a gym enclosed by sliding glass panels that open to both sides, wet and steam saunas oriented toward the adjacent garden, as well as a massage room and changing area, discreetly hidden behind stone doors.

Embracing the edge of the social pavilion, an inviting ornamental lake integrates harmoniously with the lush landscape design developed in partnership with Rodrigo Oliveira. With topographic variations reaching up to three meters in depth, its boundaries are lined with Moledo stone, while the interior features large rocks, white sand, geysers, and aquatic plants that contribute to natural water maintenance and ecological balance, along with more than 6,000 cichlid fish of various species. The tone of the sand and variations in depth create a clear, gradient blue appearance through water refraction, enhancing the experience of swimming alongside the fish.

In a more private section, facing a smaller garden designed as a secluded beach, the edges take on sinuous forms. A heated hot tub is bordered by walkable granite slabs that merge with the lake’s waters. On the opposite side, a solarium, swimming pool, and fire pit are arranged along a linear axis perpendicular to the social pavilion.

The private and service wings are fragmented into five independent volumes set upon a metal platform, slightly elevated from the ground and shaded by a boomerang-shaped roof, all connected by a single linear axis. The kitchen and home theater are positioned near the intersection point, with access through the social wing.

Ensuring privacy from the social areas, the family wing is carefully arranged at an oblique angle, oriented toward a quieter view and benefiting from morning sunlight. The first, smaller volume is entirely dedicated to the master suite, equipped with individual bathrooms and closets. The second houses three suites for the children and one children’s room, which can be converted into two bedrooms. On the opposite side, a volume extending to the far end organizes four guest bedrooms. Within each bedroom, a few steps increase ceiling height, while full-height glazing frames the landscape. The metal platform gives rise to a continuous linear planter that runs along the façade.

Blurring the boundary between interior and exterior, the fluid circulation gallery features stone brise-soleils that rhythmically guide the path, while the absence of glass panels allows the breeze to flow freely. The extended overhangs toward the adjacent garden are supported by modular, cross-shaped metal columns. Garden areas covered by wooden pergolas occupy the spaces between volumes, softening formal rigidity and framing views toward the main garden. Taking advantage of the natural slope of the terrain, the lower level accommodates service areas, technical spaces, and the garage, discreetly integrated so that the perception of a single-story house is preserved.
