500米口径球面射电望远镜(Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope,FAST),位于中国贵州省黔南布依族苗族自治州境内,是中国国家“十一五”重大科技基础设施建设项目。

 

The 500 meter aperture spherical radio telescope (FAST), located in Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, China, is a major national science and technology infrastructure construction project during the 11th Five Year Plan period.

 

 

500米口径球面射电望远镜开创了建造巨型望远镜的新模式,建设了反射面相当于30个足球场的射电望远镜,灵敏度达到世界第二大望远镜的2.5倍以上,大幅拓展人类的视野,用于探索宇宙起源和演化

 

The 500m spherical radio telescope has created a new model for building giant telescopes. It has built a radio telescope with a reflective surface equivalent to 30 football fields, with a sensitivity of more than 2.5 times that of the world's second largest telescope, greatly expanding human vision for exploring the origin and evolution of the universe

 

 

500m口径球面射电望远镜(Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope,简称FAST)是国家重大科技工程,利用贵州平塘县喀斯特地貌的洼坑作为望远镜台址,建造世界最大单口径射电望远镜。

 

The 500m aperture spherical radio telescope (FAST) is a major national science and technology project. The largest single aperture radio telescope in the world is built using the karst depression in Pingtang County, Guizhou Province as the telescope site.

 

 

FAST由主动反射面系统、馈源支撑系统、测量与控制系统、接收机与终端四大部分构成。其中主动反射面是一个口径500米、半径300米的球面,由主体支承结构、促动器、背架结构和反射面板四部分组成。主动变位是FAST反射面的最大特点,通过主动控制在观测方向形成300m口径瞬时抛物面以汇聚电磁波,观测时抛物面随着所观测天体移动而在500m口径球冠上移动,从而实现跟踪观测。

 

FAST consists of four major components: active reflector system, feed support system, measurement and control system, receiver and terminal. The active reflective surface is a spherical surface with a diameter of 500 meters and a radius of 300 meters, composed of four parts: the main support structure, actuator, back frame structure, and reflective panel. Active displacement is the biggest characteristic of FAST reflector. By actively controlling the formation of a 300m caliber instantaneous parabolic surface in the observation direction to gather electromagnetic waves, the parabolic surface moves on the 500m caliber spherical cap as the observed celestial body moves during observation, thus achieving tracking observation.
