The Harbin Bank International Plaza, a 18-story mixed-use office building in Beijing designed by Gensler, features a modern, energy-efficient design with a ventilated double-skin facade, semi-outdoor terraces, and a rooftop garden, while its open floor plan and collaborative spaces foster trust and teamwork among employees.Beijing, a city steeped in history yet pulsating with modernity, is home to the Harbin Bank International Plaza—a 18-story architectural masterpiece that redefines the headquarters experience for one of China’s leading financial institutions. Designed by the globally renowned architecture firm Gensler, this 700,000-square foot mixed-use building is a testament to the bank’s vision of innovation, sustainability, and collaboration.

形韵相生：开放与和谐的现代诠释A Form That Speaks of Harmony and Openness
哈银国际中心以精妙的椭圆体量构筑建筑美学典范，其平面布局与立体造型的有机统一，完美诠释了银行前瞻性的企业精神。延展式办公平面通过双电梯核心分区设计，将高层与低层办公区无缝衔接，实现空间的高效连通。八座横跨三层的中庭空间分列建筑东北与西南两侧，犹如垂直绿洲，不仅促进非正式交流，更打破了传统办公的层级界限。这些四季皆宜的空间既可举办企业活动，也适合非正式聚会，在提升使用者身心健康的同时，构建出激发创意与效率的和谐办公环境。
The Harbin Bank International Plaza is an elliptical masterpiece, its form both plan and section reflecting the bank’s forward-thinking ethos. The elongated floorplan, divided into upper and lower office zones serviced by two elevator zones, ensures seamless connectivity. Eight three-story atriums, located on the northeast and southwest sides of the building, serve as natural gathering spaces, encouraging informal interactions and breaking down hierarchical barriers.

建筑外立面堪称工程与美学的双重杰作——外层采用超透弧形单层玻璃，内层配置隔热Low-E中空玻璃，通风空腔中的全自动百叶帘实现精密调控。这项工程创新使夏季制冷负荷显著降低，冬季采暖需求大幅削减，让建筑如同生命体般智能响应北京四季气候，成为绿色节能的典范之作。弧形轮廓内，双电梯核心筒配备15部高速电梯，高效串联高低区办公板块。Gensler伦敦设计总监兼项目主创Russell Gilchrist阐释道：”哈银国际中心不仅是一座建筑，更是一份宣言。其椭圆形态与双层幕墙系统，既以视觉冲击力重塑城市天际线，更通过应对北京极端气候的功能性设计，为可持续都市建筑树立了新标杆。”
The building’s facade is a marvel of engineering and design—an externally ventilated double-skin system that combines a highly transparent outer layer with a weather-resistant inner layer. This facade not only enhances the building’s aesthetic appeal but also serves as a climate moderator, reducing the cooling load by over 50% in summer and minimizing heating loads by up to 40% in winter. Fully automated blinds within the cavity provide precise solar shading, heat control, and glare management, adapting effortlessly to Beijing’s dynamic seasonal shifts.

室内设计以开放协作理念为核心，通过开放式布局打破传统独立办公室的界限，确保每位使用者都能平等享受自然光线，营造出通透开放的工作氛围。2,200-2,800平方米的无柱标准层空间最大限度地引入自然光照，创造明亮舒适的办公环境。步入大厦，13.5米挑高的金色大堂以温暖的色调与自然光线完美融合，谱写出令人惊艳的空间序章。木饰墙面点缀着精心设计的灯光，天花与吊灯上抽象的丁香花纹样，巧妙呼应哈尔滨市花的城市意象。15层多功能厅以恢弘的空间叙事重构现代会议体验——宽阔无柱270度环绕式全玻璃幕墙相映成趣，将朝阳CBD的天际线转化为动态艺术展墙。声学优化的菱形藻井天花与隐藏式线阵列音响，确保每个角落都享有完美声场。
Inside, the design philosophy is centered on openness and collaboration. The open-plan office layout eliminates traditional corner offices, promoting equal access to natural light and fostering a sense of equality among employees. “We wanted to create spaces that felt inviting and inclusive, encouraging trust and teamwork among the bank employees,” says Jessica Shen, Studio Director at Gensler Beijing. “Every decision—from the layout to the materials and colors—was guided by the goal of creating a harmonious and productive environment.”

顶层行政套间采用品牌标志性的橙色织物墙面，弧形设计元素与企业标识相得益彰。行政楼层的螺旋雕塑楼梯向上逐渐舒展，既象征着企业的发展壮大，又通向可俯瞰京城全景的顶层观景平台。”我们致力于打造既温馨包容又能促进信任与协作的空间，”Gensler北京工作室总监Jessica Shen阐释道，”从整体规划到细节设计，每一个决策都服务于创造和谐高效办公环境的终极目标。”
Every three levels, semi-outdoor terraces provide a tranquil respite from the urban hustle, offering year-round spaces for company events and informal gatherings. At the rooftop, a landscaped garden deck offers a panoramic vantage point for celebrations, festivals, and even firework displays accessible via a grand spiral staircase from the executive clubhouse level. This integration of nature into the built environment not only enhances the aesthetic but also contributes to the well-being of the occupants, creating a harmonious workplace that inspires creativity and productivity. Russell Gilchrist, Design Director at Gensler London and Lead Designer for the project, explains, “The Harbin Bank International Plaza is more than just a building—it’s a statement. Its elliptical form and ventilated facade is not only visually striking but also functionally responsive, addressing Beijing’s extreme climate while setting a new standard for sustainable urban architecture.”

Below street level, amenities such as a parking lot, data center, staff cafeteria, and a restaurant with a landscaped terrace create a vibrant ecosystem that supports both employees and visitors.The 15th floor houses an auditorium for presentations, conferences, and lectures, further enhancing the building’s role as a hub for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
