For 35 years, it waited for its time. A plot located close to the sea yet far from the hustle and bustle of seaside resorts has finally gained a holiday home – a space that unites three generations and three families. Designed by architects Bartosz Świniarski and Ewa Stankiewicz-Świniarska, the project is deeply rooted in nature while remaining modern and environmentally conscious.

A family project in the heart of nature

The story of this house began more than three decades ago. At that time, the parents of architect Bartosz Świniarski purchased a plot in Karwieńskie Błota – a unique location on the map of the Polish coast, within the buffer zone of the Coastal Landscape Park. For 35 years, this place awaited its story. Finally, through the initiative of three families – the architect, his brother, and their parents – a summer house was created, designed to be both a shared and private space.

Architecture among the trees

The house was designed in harmony with nature. Over 35 years ago, when the family purchased the plot, they planted around 100 trees. These trees dictated the building’s spatial layout – not a single one was removed, and the structure was carefully adapted to the green surroundings. Thanks to large glass panes, residents can admire the treetops from every bedroom, as well as from the living room and terrace. What’s more, the trees became not just part of the landscape, but also an integral part of the interior – visible through the glass walls, they enter the home and co-create its atmosphere.

The house was designed with ecology and energy efficiency in mind. It features single-layer walls made of Ytong – a material that provides thermal comfort without additional insulation. Energy is regulated by a heat pump and a recuperation system, ensuring a stable indoor temperature year-round without the need for air conditioning.

An interior full of light and wood

All rooms are finished in a calm palette of beige and gray, warmed by natural wood. Raw textures are balanced with black accents – the kitchen countertop, chairs, and sections of flooring. The result is an atmosphere of holiday lightness, expressed in a modern, minimalist form.

The family home is a space for togetherness and unhurried relaxation away from the city’s bustle. Inside are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room connected to the kitchen and dining area. Above the living room, a unique element was introduced – a net-trampoline, where one can relax several meters above the ground. Designed with the youngest residents in mind, it serves as a safe play area for jumping and fun, while also offering adults a space for rest and a new perspective on the interior.

Bathrooms with character

The house features two intimate yet highly functional bathrooms. Both are designed in a bright, soothing palette with wooden built-in elements. A highlight in both spaces is the Silia collection fittings from Deante Design Studio – a shower set with a rainfall showerhead and mixer, as well as a tall washbasin faucet with a rectangular spout.

A Home for generations

This project is more than a holiday retreat. It is a space designed for shared moments, open to nature, and ready to serve future generations. A wooden terrace with a large table and comfortable armchairs becomes a gathering place for family, while the large glass surfaces allow enjoyment of nature even on cooler days.

The summer house in Karwieńskie Błota is proof that architecture can be both private and universal, modest in form yet rich in detail. It is a story of a dream that finally came true – exactly where nature takes center stage.
