Set on a corner lot defined by a gentle slope and wide-open views of the landscape, JL Residence, completed in 2025, is organized around two independent volumes connected by a single steel structure. Located in Bragança Paulista, in the countryside of São Paulo, the house adopts an architectural language that prioritizes structural lightness, transparency, and integration with the vegetation and views of the site and it´s surroundings.

The choice of a prefabricated steel roof structure assembled on-site allowed for fast construction and enabled the creation of large spans and continuous, integrated spaces. Over this structure, a metal roof was designed with generous 2.30m eaves that emphasize the horizontality of the composition and ensure efficient shading of the façades during the summer months.

The site plan respects the original topography: the rear volume — which houses the garage, service area, game room, and guest suites — and the swimming pool were positioned along the natural slope of the land, avoiding major earthwork. The main volume, in turn, is subtly rotated by 10°, creating a level platform between the building and the pool, and between the building and the rear volume, an internal landscaped courtyard defined by leafy vegetation that plays a central role in cross-ventilation and in connecting the two volumes.

The main volume of the house contains the kitchen, living room, and primary suites, articulated by large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panels that dissolve the boundaries between inside and outside. The transparency allows the landscape to flow through the spaces from end to end, reinforcing the sense of openness.

The project’s materiality relies on warm and durable solutions: the continuous wooden ceiling unifies the interior spaces, and on the façades, Arkos ecological wood folding panels provide solar control and privacy, forming a distinctive vertical texture. The yellow ipe trees planted in front of the house act as a natural light filter, creating a second layer of shading throughout the day.

Subtle floor level differences create variations in ceiling height, enriching circulation and generating distinct atmospheres throughout the project. The single kitchen, open to both the living room and the outdoor area, plays a central role in daily life: it functions as a space for everyday preparation as well as a gourmet area integrated with social activities.

With its careful site strategy, natural palette, and integration with the surroundings and landscape design, Residence JL seeks an architecture that acts as a mediator between interior and exterior, the natural and the built environment.
