Kimsey Grove by FUTUREFORMS (the Studio of Jason Kelly Johnson and Nataly Gattegno) is a sculptural shade canopy that draws inspiration from the pleated geometries of the saguaro cactus and the vibrant hues of desert flower blooms. It creates a link to the orange groves that once flourished on this site, recalling the region’s agricultural past.

Digitally crafted from hundreds of bespoke parts, the origami-like structural skin is woven together and riveted by hand. As a landmark urban gesture, Kimsey Grove anchors the site of the AC Hotel Scottsdale Old Town and celebrates the dynamic ecological and cultural characteristics of the desert landscape.
