Shanghai grand stage is located in the southwest of Shanghai, opposite the famous Huating Hotel, formerly known as Shanghai Gymnasium. Shanghai gymnasium is one of the large Gymnasiums in China, which was completed and put into use in 1975. The main hall is round, 33 meters high, and the roof grid span is 110 meters in diameter, which can accommodate 18000 visitors.

上海大舞台是在上海体育馆保留原体育馆功能的基础上于1999年10月改建而成的。大舞台分为上、下两层结构，舞台平面呈橄榄型,舞台左右两端最大有效使用距离60米，前后最大纵深32米,舞台面积约1250平方米。大型文艺演出可容纳观众8000-可举行几百人的小型会议，是国内首家剧院式多功能大型室内体育馆。大舞台台框（有幕）高16米，宽28至42米（有侧幕作调节），在舞台中央有7组共300平方米的大型机械舞台，该机械舞台的精巧构成加上完备的配套设施为各类大型活动营造不同的舞台效果提供了基本的保证和想象空间。上海大舞台工作人员具有丰富的大型体育赛事和演出活动工作经验，将为合作方提供标准、专业的一流服务。

The Shanghai grand stage was rebuilt in October, 1999 on the basis of retaining the function of the original stadium in Shanghai Gymnasium. The big stage is divided into upper and lower layers. The stage plane is olive shaped. The maximum effective distance between the left and right ends of the stage is 60 meters, the maximum depth before and after is 32 meters, and the stage area is about 1250 square meters. Large scale theatrical performances can accommodate about 800010000 spectators, and sports competitions can accommodate 12000 spectators. At the same time, it can hold large-scale meetings with 5000-10000 people, medium-sized meetings with about 2000-5000 people, and small meetings with hundreds of people. It is the first theater style multi-functional large-scale indoor gymnasium in China. The large stage frame (with curtain) is 16 meters high and 28 to 42 meters wide (with side curtain for adjustment). In the center of the stage, there are seven groups of large mechanical stages with a total area of 300 square meters. The exquisite composition of the mechanical stage and complete supporting facilities provide a basic guarantee and imagination space for various large-scale activities to create different stage effects.
