The building appearance is a eclectic style with Baroque decoration. It is the first steel frame structure building in Shanghai and one of the landmark buildings on the Bund.

曾被列为上海市第一批优秀历史建筑、上海市文物保护单位，现为外滩历史建筑群全国重点文物保护单位。建筑经历年使用，外立面保存尚好，而建筑内部原室内装饰所剩无几。
